VANTAGE POINT

Have you ever faced a situation where you had to consider more than a single point of view and arrive at a decision? If you are offered a leadership position in an organization, you are often expected to make complex decisions which involves multiple view points and objectives in play. The advantage you have at times when you are in the driving seat is you get to see the 2 sides of the coin with totally different perspectives.

With the responsibility of being in a leadership role, you don't get to please everybody with your decisions and you need not have to do that. There are times when the decisions you make will have a negative impact on you but in the larger picture it helps the organization and that may be the expected outcome from the company. It is also important to find the balance when the decision making impacts a larger group or multiple parties involved.

In early part of your education, you may have lead a team or group in a cultural, social or sporting event. How did you take decisions when it was crucial for the team's success? Has that process evolved later in your career to make clear and effective decisions? You often learn and grow from your past experiences. You can't grow in life with no failures and past experiences. A vantage point view of any difficult situation is therefore very significant for making the right decisions and leading in the right path towards success!
