UNEMPLOYMENT

In view of the second wave of the pandemic in the country, the unemployment rate is going to see a spike again. While the burden of daily living expenses, increased commodity prices, are affecting the normal livelihood of common people, the recovery is a long road ahead. The transition from hiring a taxi to instant booking of uber, ola, and food delivery apps like swiggy, zomato, etc. didn't take much time with the people in the country. But this time the transitions are going to be different in many ways.

In the digital world, the young generation are more tech savvy than the earlier generations and this may be a huge cause of worry. Not all jobs or people who are working in various sectors are connected to IT/software. The revival of tourism and travel industry to pre-pandemic time is still a distant reality. When people who are dependent on daily wages for a living in a city are not offered a job opportunity again, they migrate back to their native places in search of low cost alternatives for good.

The people who are facing the risk of unemployment have to focus on setting-up an alternate source of income to survive and grow if they have not done this yet. The traditional education system fails to teach some of the essential life-skills to today's young generation. The recent graduates and freshers who are finding it tough to secure a job have to focus on showcasing their skills online, start freelancing, become self-employed and self sufficient till they can switch to a more efficient option.
