What does your career graph look like ? It is definitely not going to be the same for everyone. Even friends who graduated from the same college might go in different directions. There are people who will be off to a flying start and carry forward a monotonous life style with stable income, also there are ones who start with a flat line or see a spike in their career every now and then.
What is the best way to analyze if you are going in the right direction? For many it comes down to priorities in life, it may be money over happiness or work-life balance over risks, it may be relationships over progress or happiness over money etc. Each person will possess unique skills and hence cannot be measured relatively. But a better way to know is to count the number of days and times you have been happy doing what you have been doing.
For those who are yet to start their careers, my suggestion is to not to worry about what others think or feel about you and focus on what you want to do or pursue in life. There will be people who praise you, admire you, comment about you, keep you at fault, support you, encourage you, envy you etc. and these will happen regardless of where you are in your career path. The best way to grow is by following your passion and listening to your inner gut feeling all the time.
